Course Selection
Teachers may assist in post secondary planning but students must take responsibility for their education and make sure they are taking the necessary courses. Course selection varies from site to site and is based on staff numbers and the needs of the majority to graduate. The School schedule cannot be changed to cater to individual needs. Other options may be available
Course Changes
You may not add courses after the start date unless it is a course for which there is a waiting list. Courses may be dropped within the first 2 weeks without it appearing on your transcript.
Academic Math Requirements
Academic Math 10: you will be required to complete an assessment to determine your suitability for the course.
Academic Math 12: Prerequisite 65% in Academic Math 10 within one calendar year.
*If you successfully completed Academic Math 10 more than one year prior you may challenge for entry into the Academic Math 12 by completing an assessment.
Computer User's Agreement
All students must read the guidelines set out by the school board and sign an agreement provided by teachers at orientation.
All students have the responsibility to show respect for the school's computer equipment making sure to properly start up and shut down the computers after use. Students should use caution when releasing personal information over the internet as it may not be secure. Each student will be responsible for any financial obligations entered into on the internet.
Technology Policy
CCAHS recognizes that students may need cellular phones in case they need to be contacted. While in class students should put their cell phones on vibrate mode and leave the classroom if they suspect that they need to take a call of urgency. Students will be asked to make or answer routine calls on non classroom time. This includes text messaging.
MP3 Players- Students are not to be listening to MP3 players during classroom time.
Students will refrain from taking pictures / videos of teachers or fellow students without permission.
Fees
Every student is expected to pay a per semester student fee of $50.00. The educational fee goes towards the cost of books, field trips, agenda and other school activities.
Parking
The parking situation varies at each site therefore students should confirm with their teacher where they are allowed to park.
School Activities / Groups
Student participation and school spirit are an important part of our school. If any student(s) would like to plan an activity or form a group they should submit their proposal in writing to the principal for consideration.
Field Trips / Events
Throughout the year school trips, events and guest speakers will enrich your learning experience. A lot of thought and effort goes into planning these events therefore, full attendance is expected. Any unexcused absence will be dealt with by the principal.
Dress Code
As an adult high school student you are expected to dress in a matter respectful to yourself and others. Students wearing short shorts, revealing tops and T-shirts with inappropriate or offensive language will be sent home to change.
